INCI Name and CAS Number for Bee Venom Powder

When working with bee venom in cosmetic formulations or scientific research, two identifiers are essential: the INCI name and the CAS number. These standards guarantee clarity, compliance, and traceability across global markets.

What is INCI?

INCI stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients. It is the globally recognized naming system used by cosmetic companies to label ingredients in a standardized way. For bee venom, the official INCI name is simply: Bee Venom.
Whenever a cosmetic product containing bee venom is registered in the EU Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP), this INCI name must be used. Without it, the product cannot be legally placed on the EU market.

What is a CAS Number?
The CAS number (Chemical Abstracts Service) is a unique numerical identifier assigned to every known chemical substance. For bee venom, the CAS number is: 91261-16-4.
This number is widely used in Safety Data Sheets (SDS), technical documentation, and international regulatory databases. It ensures that the ingredient can be precisely identified in scientific and commercial contexts.

Why These Identifiers Matter
  • Regulatory compliance: Required for EU CPNP, FDA listings, and other global cosmetic registrations.
  • Product safety: Ensures correct documentation in SDS and toxicology reports.
  • Traceability: Buyers and researchers can confirm that the raw material is authentic bee venom.
